Police have confirmed nobody was injured in the blaze
A hero bus driver went back for one "final check" to see if there were any remaining passengers on the double-decker bus she was driving after it burst into flames.
He said: "I saw people all running away and running off and around the bus. The flames slowly came forwards on the top deck and there was smoke everywhere. The lady who was driving the bus ran back and did one last check over of the bus before carrying something away with her. It was really scary. A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 6.30pm officers were called to a report of a fire on a bus on Lime Street. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire on the bus. No injuries have been reported to police. Further reports and examinations have established that the fire may have been caused deliberately at present.
