Today's cars have an unprecedented capacity to surveil people inside and around them, and it's raising alarms with privacy advocates.
GM told CNBC the automaker cut ties with data brokers and is reviewing the legal claims. LexisNexis Risk Solutions didn't return a request for comment."Our cars aren't a means of independence and privacy anymore," said Jen Caltrider, director of the Mozilla Foundation's Privacy Not Included program, in an interview with CNBC."They're a place that we can be spied and surveilled and coerced.
CNBC reached out to the 25 brands the Mozilla Foundation reviewed. Most either did not respond or declined to be interviewed.
