It may be in September, it may be different, but the Apple Cup continues.
The Apple Cup logo is seen on the field after the game between the Washington Huskies and the Washington State Cougars at Husky Stadium on November 25, 2023 in Seattle, Washington. If the 2024 edition is any indication, the rivalry hasn't lost a morsel of its dramatics and luster. While a five-game extension of the rivalry was signed last fall, we now know when we can see the next installment of this great rivalry.
The five-year extension of the rivalry was part of an agreement reached before UW departed the Pac-12 for the Big 10 with an eye to continuing the Apple Cup for the foreseeable future. Washington, despite losing to Washington State in 2024, leads the all-time rivalry with 76 wins to just 34 for the Cougs and six total ties.
WSU has seven of its 12 total games for 2025 set, which includes a matchup with Oregon State that doesn't have a date yet, but also scheduled matchups with Idaho on Aug. 30, San Diego State on Sept. 6, at North Texas on Sept. 13, Washington on Sept. 20, at Virginia on Sept. 27, and at Ole Miss on Oct. 11.
