Yeah, I'm all set with space.
NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore finally returned to Earth after a nine-month stay on the International Space Station. TheyThey landed safely in a SpaceX Dragon crew capsule off the coast of Florida on Tuesday and were greeted by a pod of dolphins.
What does it feel like to return to Earth after spending several months in space? Dr. Tom Marshburn, a former astronaut and flight surgeon, describes experiencing the “huge, magnetic, strange force” of gravity, which astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams could experience when they splash down in the gulf south of Tallahassee, Florida later today after spending more than nine months aboard the International Space Station."It's a very strange feeling, especially when you land in the capsule in the water. The main thing that you're feeling is gravity. You haven't been feeling the effects of gravity for six months, and it feels just like a magnetic, strange force that is welding you into your seat," he said."Even your lips and your teeth feel heavy.""So, when I landed with my commander of the Dragon capsule, Raja Chari, we tried to pick up some water bottles, and we dropped them in our lap because they felt so heavy.""Do you feel like your face is falling as well?" the CBS anchor asks."Oh, well, yeah. You feel all of the muscles dragging on your bones until your body gets used to gravity again," Marshburn replied., the astronauts will now participate in a 45-day progressive recovery program and follow a"structured reconditioning program," which includes two hours a day with trainers to get back to their pre-mission fitness levels.
