Some good size hail fell, but most of Bexar County avoided the brunt of heavy storms.

Overall, San Antonio and Bexar County avoided the brunt of the heavy storms. However, there were some reports of pinky- to penny-sized hail just north of San Antonio in the Hill Country. The rain wasn’t enough to close the rainfall deficit seen in Bexar County since the beginning of the year. Typically, Bexar County sees 2.39 inches of rainfall at the San Antonio International Airport by now. Thanks to the recent wet weather, the county has recorded 1.59 inches as of Wednesday evening.
Last year was San Antonio’s second driest in recorded history with just 11.5 inches of rain — only 1917 was drier with 10.11 inches. Meteorologists and climatologists expect San Antonio’s precipitation levels to return to their more typical average of about 31 inches in 2023, thanks to the expected end of the weather pattern known as La Niña.
