Manchester Christmas Markets 2023 - opening times, locations and what stalls to expect
The nights are drawing in and the air is getting colder. That can only mean one thing, Christmas is coming.
All those years later and the markets still continue to attract many visitors from across the UK, with thousands descending into the city every year. 225 stalls across nine "zones" will be spread across Manchester this year. The iconic Big Santa will be on his usual perch in front of the Central Library on St Peter's Square. Skate Manchester is also set to make a return, with the covered ice rinks taking pride of place in Cathedral Gardens where ice skating lovers can enjoy being surrounded by a huge Christmas tree, with twinkling lights, songs and the smell of gingerbread.
The MEN have put together a full rundown of what visitors to the Manchester Christmas Markets can expect this year.Piccadilly Gardens will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland with a mix of craft and gift stalls, including food and drink. The Scandi-style tipi returns, festooned with lights and with its traditional log fires to bring the warmth.
And if you've spent all year missing the macaroons Market Street is the place to pick up your freshly baked for Manchester coconut macaroons, served hot from the oven.Known for its array of foody stalls, expect authentic Italian deli, Ballaro with fresh cannelloni and arancini, while El Gato Negro tapas will bring some Mediterranean menu flavours to Christmas shoppers for the first time with a seated area outside their restaurant on King Street.
