ABC News has finalized the rules that Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will be required to abide by for their televised debate.

The format largely follows the guidelines and guardrails set up by the Trump and then-Biden campaign with CNN for their sole debate in June. President Joe Biden’s widely panned, disastrous performance that night would kick off a series of internal conversations in his campaign and the national Democratic Party as a whole that led to him dropping out on July 21.
Each candidate will be given two minutes to address each prompt, with two minutes then allowed to the opponent for rebuttal and another minute after that for further clarifications, comments or responses by the candidate being questioned. The event, which will feature two commercial breaks, will end after 90 minutes and allow both Harris and Trump to make two-minute closing statements.
