"I’m impressed by the Biden presidency and find the president to be a man of equal parts competency and compassion. I also believe American democracy is made stronger by competition. Coronations are antithetical to democracy," Phillips said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. One of the biggest progressive stars in the House, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez , has so far declined to follow in the footsteps of Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren in backing Biden.
