When Kamala Harris became the first Black and South Asian woman to accept a major party's vice presidential nomination, she praised some of the women who paved the way and helped secure the passage of the 19th Amendment that granted women the right to vote
When California Sen. Kamala Harris became the first Black and South Asian woman to accept a major party's vice presidential nomination on Wednesday night, she credited the historic moment to generations of men and women before her who fought for civil and voting rights.
In particular, she praised some of the women who paved the way for her and helped secure the passage of the 19th Amendment that granted women the right vote."Without fanfare or recognition, they organized and testified and rallied and marched and fought -- not just for their vote, but for a seat at the table," she said.
