The 48-year-old leaves Canada Soccer after first being hired in 2011 to take over Canada’s women’s national team. He overhauled the women’s program and won two Olympic bronze medals.Herdman then guided Canada to its first World Cup with the men’s national team since 1986.that continued instability within Canada Soccer’s financial state moving forward as well as a fractured dressing room under Herdman after the World Cup contributed to him taking the TFC job.
TFC has just nine matches remaining this season and while they are not mathematically eliminated from postseason contention, they are in last place in the Eastern Conference with 19 points after 26 matches. on June 26, naming Terry Dunfield interim manager. Jason Hernandez has since been named general manager.
