Authorities say the chopper tumbled in the air before hitting a shallow canal in a state park.
Josef-Ram Yitzhak, 44, was flying a single-engine helicopter that crashed at about 3:30 p.m. in a canal near a lake in South Brunswick, authorities said.in Montgomery Township at about 3:10 p.m. and flew a few miles east before it “went out of control,” said Aaron Carter of the National Transportation Safety Board, an independent federal agency.

The agency is in touch with the eyewitnesses to aid the investigation, he said.
The agency is also in contact with Yitzhak’s family, he said. The Israeli man was in New Jersey for flight training, Carter said.The badly damaged helicopter involved in Thursday’s crash remained half-submerged in the creek Friday as authorities continued to investigate.
