Heights defeated Stratford 14-3 in six innings at The Front Yard Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs won their 24th game in a row, completing a Region III-6A bi-district series sweep of the Lady Spartans.“I think the girls were awesome in the series,” Heights coach Lamont Robins said. “The bats came alive, the pitching was on point, the defense was there for the most part. We had a few errors but that’s a part of the game. That’s something that we can work on and fix. For the most part, both games were solid, and I’m just really proud of these girls.
It will be a rematch of last year’s area round when Cinco Ranch defeated Heights 2-1 in a one-game playoff.Stratford ends the season 17-12.On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs scored 14 runs off 16 hits. Heights broke open the game in the top of the third inning, scoring eight runs after earning a two-run lead in the first inning.
Sophomore third baseman Flora Moreno hit a two-run single followed by Alyssa Morris’ two-run single in the third inning.Lady Bulldogs leadoff hitter Helen Maddux hit a three-run homer in the inning as Heights led 10-0.Moreno went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including two doubles.
