The Department of Defense underscored that the trip will prioritize 'strengthening deterrence, supporting warfighters, and advancing America's national security interests.'Hegseth's initial stop involved visits to both the U.S.
European Command (USEUCOM) and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) headquarters. During these visits, he conferred with senior military leaders to receive comprehensive operational updates. He also took the opportunity to connect with U.S. service personnel stationed in Germany, participating in a town hall session with AFRICOM officials.Following Germany, Hegseth's itinerary leads him to Brussels, Belgium, where he will participate in two key meetings: the NATO Defense Ministerial and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG).
