ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Heavy snow hit parts of the state Thursday night to Friday, as other locations saw blasting winds and blizzard conditions. Interior locations report 10 to 18 inches of snow in the Fairbanks area, and 10 to 20 inches of snow in the hills and bluffs above Homer. The heavy wet snow downed trees, some of which fell onto power lines and at one point, cutting power to over 5000 customers in and around the Homer area.

Fog rolled in Anchorage midday Friday and prompted the issuance of a Dense Fog Advisory. It was lifted by 7 pm. Very cold air returns to Alaska over the weekend. Temperatures in the interior will drop to 30 to 40 below! Light winds could make it feel even colder, dropping wind chills to 50 and 60 below! The cold streak will last through Tuesday.
