Enjoy the warmth while we've got it; a big cooldown and slushy snow looks likely for Sunday night and Monday.

The high country will see some snow Saturday before it picks up Sunday, while the Denver area is forecasted to see thunderstorms and snow Sunday into Monday.DENVER — The latest round of winter weather is bringing heavy snow to the mountains, along with storms and snow to lower elevations.

Conditions are making it likely the Denver metro area will see at least some snow accumulation Sunday night into Monday morning - mostly nighttime snow, cold temperatures, a strong surface low and good lift in the system.I'm leaning towards the lower end of that, but it looks like it's going to really rip snow for a few hours Sun. night, so leaving in higher end scenarios.

Most of the snow is expected to fall south on Interstate 70, which the north side not forecasted to see much accumulation.guessing we're only looking at a 6-ish hour window for accumulating snow, but it could really hammer for a bit on Sunday night...soundings show a fully saturated column + good lift. Could pile up quick. In the mountains, moderate snow showers move in Saturday night and into Sunday morning before it picks up later Sunday.
