A cooler and wetter weather pattern is beginning to emerge across the state, potentially helping when it comes to fire-fighting efforts.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - While a narrow ridge remains to our north, it won’t hold much influence over our weather this week. Some spotty showers remain with us Tuesday morning, although things will trend on the drier side for the next few days. This will largely be due to the ridge to our north, and the low to our south moving away from Mainland Alaska . Even with drier conditions in the forecast, cooler weather is here to stay this week.

Your Independence Day forecast will largely be on the drier side, with partly sunny skies. There is a chance that some scattered showers will remain in the forecast. An incoming storm from the northwest will help vent much of the wildfire smoke in the coming days. There is some spotty storm coverage this morning, but the ridge of high pressure should cap most storm development today. There is a red flag warning that goes into effect for the Eastern Brooks Range at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
