Heat, instability, merging sea breezes bring stormy afternoon risk to northeast Florida, southeast Georgia
Forecast

Before storms arrive, it’s going to feel sticky inland. Temperatures will push into the lower 90s, and with the humidity factored in, it’ll feel close to 100 degrees.

– The East Coast sea breeze is heading inland today, where it will collide with the Gulf Coast sea breeze front. And, along that line, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop across the I-75 corridor of inland Northeast Florida.

From there, storm activity will spread northward into inland Southeast Georgia through the evening hours. Before storms arrive, it’s going to feel sticky inland. Temperatures will push into the lower 90s, and with the humidity factored in, it’ll feel close to 100 degrees. Otherwise, southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph will kick up and keep things a bit more bearable closer to the coast.

Highs along the I-95 corridor should reach the upper 80s to near 90 degrees, with beaches staying cooler in the middle 80s. The storms won’t last all night. Activity over inland areas should start fading after sunset and wrap up by late evening. Southeast winds along the east coast will also ease by midnight.

Overnight, drier air will help clear out, and temperatures will drop. Expect lows in the lower to middle 60s across inland southeast Georgia, mid-to-upper 60s across inland northeast Florida, and lower 70s along the Atlantic beaches.
