"Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events," describes the weather service.Make sure to drink plenty of fluids.Stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.Never leave young children and pets alone in vehicles, especially during hot weather when car interiors can become dangerously hot in a matter of minutes.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas for outdoor workers.In emergencies, call 911 for immediate assistance.
