For the third consecutive day, the PAGASA recorded the highest daily heat index reading observed across the country at Ambulong Station in Tanauan, Batangas on Wednesday, May 10. | ManilaBulletin READ:

This is the third day in a row that the PAGASA station in Batangas topped the list of the highest daily heat index.A heat index of 42°C to 51°C indicates imminent “danger,” as “heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely,” and “heat stroke is probable with continued activity,” according to PAGASA.

Meanwhile, the highest heat index measured since March 1, 2023 reached 49°C on April 16 in Guiuan, Eastern Samar. According to PAGASA, the easterlies, or warm air from the Pacific Ocean, and localized thunderstorms will be the dominant weather systems in the country until the weekend. In the next 24 hours, most of the country will continue to experience hot weather in the morning and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

The public is advised to exercise caution during severe thunderstorms, as these can result in landslides or flash floods, especially in areas that are vulnerable to these hazards.
