It's a Perth program that unites the young, and young at heart.

Children from Sparrow Early Learning embark on weekly visits to residents of Emerald Life Aged Care in West Leederville, igniting joy and strengthening the bonds between young and old.

During these visits, the children and residents engage in a range of activities, including cooking, gardening, and arts and crafts, fostering a sense of teamwork and mutual learning.Their interactions are not only enjoyable but also contribute to the mental well-being and cognitive development of both the children and the elderly.

"My favourite colour is the same as yours" exclaimed one resident, demonstrating the simple yet profound connections that form between the generations."I love to hear them talking. Brings back lots of memories from my kids when they were growing up," she said.Emerald Life occupational therapist Antonia Bicanic says the activities serve as a mood booster for the residents, providing them with something to eagerly anticipate each week.

Early childhood teacher Audrey Berry highlights the positive impact on the children, emphasising the development of empathy, social skills, and respect for the elderly.
