Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Spurs and Dallas Mavericks will be featured in Amazon's new five-part anthology series.
The Spurs rolled into the 2006 Western Conference semifinals seeking to dispatch a familiar rival on their path to another NBA championship. The Dallas Mavericks entered that round hoping to finally remove the barricade to title contention Tim Duncan and Co. had so diligently maintained for years. That epic seven-game series culminated on May 22, 2006, with an unforgettable finale in San Antonio , one that will be featured in a new five-part Amazon anthology series aptly titled “ Game 7 .
It was in that do-or-die game that Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks finally got the best of Duncan's top-seeded Spurs, who were seeking back-to-back NBA titles. Nowitzki finished with 37 points, 15 rebounds and three assists – Duncan had 41, 15 and six with three blocks – in the Mavs' 119-111 overtime win, avenging previous season-ending losses to the Spurs in the 2001 West semis and 2003 West finals. “It was the best series I’ve ever played in,” Duncan said following the loss.
