Health ministry, discussing JPA’s move to stop funding medical studies FMTNews

Health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said she was worried the move to halt scholarships may discourage students from pursuing medical studies.

She added that the ministry was also prepared to review a study conducted in 2019 which projected the country having an oversupply of medical officers from 2026 to 2030.So, there may be new things that need to be revisited in the study. Sabah and Sarawak affairs minister Armizan Ali was reported to have said that the Health Indicators 2022 report showed a 1:420 doctor-to-population ratio in the country. A 1:400 ratio was expected to be achieved in 2025.
