Health care providers are fighting back after the state’s latest move to crack down on drug companies selling hormone treatments for gender-affirming care.

Attorney General Ken Paxton recently opened an investigation into two pharmaceutical companies for selling puberty blockers Medical professionals say puberty blockers are safe, reversible and medically necessary for transitioning youth. However, this attempt to limit access also affects trans people over the age of 18 who more commonly use hormone treatments.
“When kids are denied puberty blockers, they are living with this awful depression and dysphoria and anxiety,” he said. “Then you have to have these surgeries, which apparently everybody else is also against.”
