The Mesa County Sheriff's Office said they responded nine months ago on Jan. 12 to a call about a 'suspicious incident.'
The head and hands of a 16-year-old missing since 2005 were recently found in a freezer sold at a home in Colorado , according to police.said they responded nine months ago on Jan. 12 to a call about a "suspicious incident" in the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue in Grand Junction.
"Upon arrival, Deputies found the head and hands of a human had been discovered in a freezer by someone who arrived to claim the free appliance offered by the new owner of the recently sold home," police stated in a release. The coroner's office identified the victim of the homicide on Oct. 11 as Amanda Leariel Oversrett by using DNA testing.
Amanda is believed to have been approximately 16 years old at the time of her disappearance. Overstreet has not been seen or heard from since April 2005," according to law enforcement. Officials added she was the biological daughter of the previous owner of the home and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain under investigation, as well as ongoing forensic testing of evidence.
