Timothy Winkler III, who is only 14 years old, is already one of the most coveted college prospects in the country as an eighth grader. The Oswego resident is 6-foot-9, 215-pounds.

Winkler’s father, who is from suburban Detroit, now works as an assistant coach for All Saints. He is 6-6 and played basketball in college.“The biggest thing with Tim is self-confidence,” said his father, Tim. “I always tell him basketball is 90% mental.

Born in Michigan, Winkler came to the western suburbs at age 6 when his father was transferred here. The family lives in Oswego. Prescott Johnson, a guard who lives in Naperville, said Winkler’s assimilation into the fabric of the team was natural. Growing up, Winkler played both basketball and soccer. Soccer helped with his agility, movement and explosiveness.
