‘He’s a dog.’ How rookie Jalen Pitre is already making an impression on his teammates

Pitre has already established himself as one of the future starters on defense, barring an unexpected setback. He’s practiced with the first team offense for much of camp and he’s made plays, including a interception against Davis Mills last week in which he dove and caught a ball that was deflected in the air.
He’s not the biggest player on the team. In fact, if you passed by him on the street, you’d think he was a regular guy. But he’s shown in this short time that he has the potential to be an impact player. That’s why the Texans drafted the Baylor product and Stafford graduate in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft.
“What we should notice about Jalen is he's just blending in now,” Texans coach Lovie Smith said last week. “Of course, he's one of our starting safeties. We aren't giving out any starting spots, but he's been working with the ones. But he's intelligent, smart, everything we're looking for in a safety, he has.His teammates on offense and defense rave about him. He’s obviously gained their respect.
