“As of now, there are 84 certification bodies from 47 countries worldwide, that have used our standards and worked with Jakim for their respective certification in their countries. “It is a multi pronged strategy, we assist multinational companies to obtain the Jakim halal certification, we bring them into a new halal market. At the same time, we want them to open up their operations in Malaysia and contribute to the economy,” he added.

He added that Malaysia has set to increase its halal economy contribution to RM230 billion in 2030, or 10.8% of the gross domestic product from 2022’s RM60 billion.
