The move brings the startup close to Dallas’ Paul Quinn College, which was founded in 1872 and was the first HBCU in Texas. The college’s president, Michael Sorrell,that he wants Paul Quinn to be the first HBCU in California as he creates a network of urban colleges. And the value proposition for HBCUs is simple: They can reach and recruit minority students from around the world without having to spend a dime on travel.
“HBCU Hub is a very impressive application, but more importantly, Jonathan and his team are very impressive people,” the McKinney Economic Development Center’s Mike DePaola said. “Jonathan’s technical experience and infectious personality paired with his team and advisers experience and business acumen makes for a great company to add to the McKinney technology ecosystem.”
