Hazbin Hotel's Fifth and Final Season Renewal Leaves Fans with Mixed Emotions
Hazbin HotelFifth And Final SeasonRenewal

The renewal of Hazbin Hotel's fifth season has left fans with a mix of emotions as the show is set to conclude with its final season. Despite the sadness of the show's end, fans can look forward to the creative possibilities in the Hellaverse, including spin-offs, movies, and crossovers.

Hazbin Hotel was recently renewed for its fifth season, and with that renewal announcement came the news that Season 5 would be its last. It’s a little sad to know the beloved animated musical is making its way toward a firm conclusion, but not only is that conclusion likely a number of years away, but Hazbin Hotel has made such an indelible impression on pop culture that the series could have a strong presence for quite some time, well beyond its active run.

Soon after the Season 5 news was unveiled, Erika Henningsen dropped by the Collider Ladies Night studio to discuss The Four Seasons Season 2 on Netflix. While chatting about her experience making that show with Tina Fey, Colman Domingo, Kerri Kenney-Silver and more, she took a moment to share her thoughts on finding out that her run voicing Charlie Morningstar on Hazbin Hotel would come to an end.

The Highs & Lows of ‘Hazbin Hotel’ Coming to a Close “A massive portion of my adult life has always had this in the background, and that’s kind of sad to think about. ” Season 1 of Hazbin Hotel first debuted on Prime Video in January 2024.

Then we waited about 21 months for Season 2. While on Collider Ladies Night, Vivienne Medrano revealed we’ll likely see a similar wait between Seasons 2 and 3, so that means we’ll likely get Season 3 in the second half of 2027. Medrano also noted that there will be “less of a wait for Season 4 because they were greenlit together.

” If we assume Season 4 gets a 2028 release and do some very rough and unconfirmed math to predict when Season 5 might drop, that takes us to 2030. That leaves us loads of times to revisit this exact topic with Henningsen, but for now, she did reveal her first reaction to finding out that Hazbin Hotel’s fifth season would be its last.

“So much post-COVID has had Hazbin at the backdrop. Like, the first job I got after COVID was Hazbin. Since getting Hazbin, my whole life in many ways has changed, on a personal and professional level. I don't want to say it's responsible, but in a weird way, I just think it was like the first sort of glimmer of, things might be okay, and I will work again.

I have such a soft spot for the show as a marker for an era of time, because I think it will probably be a decade of time. By the time the fifth season comes out, I think it will have been a decade-plus of working on the show. That's crazy. And so I feel like I'm already kind of looking ahead to that moment when we record the last episode of Season 5, and just going, like, wait.

A massive portion of my adult life has always had this in the background, and that’s kind of sad to think about. ” When an artist pours so much of their time, passion and life into a show, that sadness over it coming to an end is inevitable, but there are a multitude of silver linings tethered to how Hazbin Hotel is wrapping its run.

First off, Vivienne Medrano will get to end her show on her own terms. In an industry that seems to dish out a steady stream of show cancelations, that’s a big deal and Henningsen knows it.

“I'm so happy for Viv. ” She added, “It will end the way Viv wants, and I'll get to see a character from beginning, middle, to end. That’s so special. ” We also can’t forget that Hazbin Hotel is only one part of Medrano’s Hellaverse.

"The show will never go away. " Medrano’s Hellaverse includes Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, which will see the first half of its 15-episode third season premiere on Prime Video in the Fall of 2026. After a mid-season hiatus, the second half will drop in 2027. As Hazbin and Helluva have proved, the creative possibilities in that space are endless.

Henningsen even said, “I pray that there are spin-offs and movies and crossovers. ” It wouldn’t come as a surprise if Henningsen’s wish came true, but no matter what happens in that respect, Hazbin Hotel is here to stay via its fandom.

Medrano had already built a huge fanbase for the property even before it hit Prime Video, and ever since the series debuted on the streamer, Medrano and the cast have been jumping from fan convention to fan convention, packing gigantic auditoriums with viewers eager to celebrate the show they love with the wildly talented artists behind it. After highlighting how the show continues to thrive on the convention circuit, Henningsen replied, “That is true. The show will never go away.
