In San Marcos city races, incumbent Mayor Jane Hughson takes big lead in early voting totals
The race to become Hays County 's next sheriff is a close one, according an unofficial count of early and absentee votes published by Hays County on Tuesday evening, with none of the Election Day votes yet counted. Early voting results show Republican Anthony Hipolito Jr. , a deputy with the Hays County Sheriff's Office, in the lead over his opponent, Democrat Alex Villalobos , in the unofficial count. Hipolito was at 53,171 early and absentee votes, or 52.
County voters last approved a road bond measure in 2016, with a cost of $131.4 million. Another bond also known as Proposition A, put forward by San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District in order to raise $2.8 million to help plug its $17.2 million budget deficit for the 2024-2025 school year, enjoyed support in the early totals, with 12,215 votes in favor and 8,968 against, or 57.7% to 42.3%.
