Former NRL player Jarryd Hayne left a taxi waiting outside a woman’s house in Newcastle as he sexually assaulted her and left her bleeding, a court has heard.

Hayne, 35, has pleaded not guilty in the NSW District Court to two counts of sexual intercourse without consent relating to the alleged sexual assault of a woman on September 30, 2018.

“I expect you’ll hear the accused left the premises after cleaning up blood from his hands and mouth,” he said.Sfinas said Hayne and the complainant had “never actually met” prior to the night in question and contact was initiated by the complainant via Instagram, before the pair messaged for about two weeks on social media on platforms including Snapchat.

The judge said they were forbidden from browsing the internet, social media or old newspapers for “anything to do with past trials or this trial”.
