"In the wake of the brutal terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel, we have witnessed an alarming rise in support for violence against the Jewish people," Sen. Hawley wrote. "Public reports indicate that several far-left student groups have lined up to effectively cheerlead Hamas’s genocidal war against the people of Israel."
The Missouri senator specifically called for inquiries into third-party groups that may have relationships with Hamas, the terrorist organization governing the Gaza Strip that recently invaded Israel. In the letter, Sen. Hawley cited several examples of groups he suspected of being funded by Hamas-backed organizations. At Harvard University, at least 31 campus groups signed a letterIsrael for the violence in the Middle East. It drew the ire of former school President Lawrence Summers, who described himself as “disillusioned and alienated.”a pro-Palestine “emergency teach-in” which taught students that Israel and “the Western world” were responsible for the attacks.
