The second photo features Hawk alone, poised and ready for combat, while the third picture spotlights Dove. Team Firestorm’s costumes are comics accurate, down to Dove’s hair and Hawk’s menacing look. Team Firestorm brings Hawk and Dove to amazing life, giving love to some oft-overlooked DC characters.
Hawk and Dove Have a Long History at DC Comics Co-created by the legendary Steve Ditko, Hawk and Dove first appeared in 1968’s Showcase #75. The first Hawk and Dove were brothers: Hank and Don Hall. Empowered by the Lords of Order, Hawk and Dove embodied the concepts of war and peace, respectively. Dove was a pacifist and fought with his brains whereas Hawk was brutal and violent. The original Dove was killed during the Crisis on Infinite Earths and was replaced by a woman named Dawn.
Hawk is One of DC's Most Violent Characters Hawk and Dove embody their particular concepts well, especially Hawk. The Lords of Order gave him a number of fantastic powers, such as super-strength and durability, along with the powers of flight as well as a healing factor. As a side effect of his transformation, Hawk’s violent tendencies often come to the surface, sending him into a berserker rage. When Hawk slips into one of these violent states, only Dove can calm him down.
In many ways, Hawk is DC’s equivalent to Wolverine and may be even more powerful. Both men have notorious short fuses, often flying off the handle and into a violent rage during fights. Hawk and Wolverine also share healing factors, which makes them both nearly unbeatable. Yet Hawk has powers Wolverine can only dream of, such as energy manipulation and flight. Furthermore, Hawk’s rage is the result of his transformation and thus amplified beyond anything Wolverine can muster.
