At least six people have died after wildfires rampaged through parts of the Hawaiian island of Maui, officials have said

The mayor of Lahaina said the main focus of the authorities is to"save lives" as wildfires continue to sweep through the town, which was a popular shopping and dining area.0:38.

Posting on X on Tuesday, the Coast Guard said 12 people had been rescued from the water off Lahaina.The Coast Guard responded to areas where people had fled into the ocean to escape the fire and smoky conditions, the county said in a statement on Tuesday.More from World
