Hasbro stock jumps 12% after revenue from its Magic: The Gathering franchise surges despite concerns of gamer fatigue
after Hasbro launched a number of new card sets over the past two years.
Much of the continued strength in Magic: The Gathering is being driven by content-related mashups of the game with other popular media properties, like Warhammer. "Our first one [media crossover] was with a game called Warhammer and we're already on our fourth reprint for that, and then we have a huge one coming up in Q2 with Lord of the Rings, [and] that's already setting records for preorders," he said.
