Applicants are now asked to describe a time they 'strongly disagreed' with someone on an idea or issue.

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS - MARCH 12: A student walks through Harvard Yard on the campus of Harvard University on March 12, 2020 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The question is one of five short-answer prompts with a 150-word limit, according to the school's website. Students are required to answer each question to submit their application. Other questions on the list include “top 3 things your roommates might like to know about you” and “how do you hope to use your Harvard education in the future?”

“Overall, Harvard reviews our application on an annual basis and makes adjustments to ensure we are providing candidates with the best opportunity to represent themselves through the materials,” he said. “As you might have seen, we made a shift last year when we moved from offering candidates the opportunity to write one optional essay from a selection of 10 prompts to a required response to five short-answer prompts. This represents a change in one of those five prompts.
