Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford, smiles while holding an earpiece in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

What is Harrison Ford’s best sci-fi/action movie franchise? Which of his iconic genre heroes is the greatest? Is it Han Solo, Indiana Jones, or Rick Deckard? Debates have raged for four or five decades between mainstream Star Wars fans, throwback-loving Indiana Jones fans, and thoughtful, erudite Blade Runner fans, but the review aggregation system at Rotten Tomatoes has already determined which of the three franchises is the best, and the answer may surprise you: They’re all equally good.

Star Wars: Episode IV, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Blade Runner: The Final Cut all have a 94 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Those are the highest ratings in those respective franchises as well, with The Force Awakens and The Empire Strikes Back both having 93 percent, Blade Runner 2049 having 88 percent, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade having 84. So which of them is actually the best? 'Blade Runner' Is Harrison Ford’s Best Sci-Fi Movie It took a few new edits and re-cuts, but Blade Runner: The Final Cut is arguably the most prestigious and refined of Harrison Ford’s sci-fi action franchises. There are only two movies in the series, which keeps the quality from being diluted, and the excellent original movie got a follow-up that was also excellent. In fact, 2049 is so good that it makes the original even better, which is really saying something, because the original is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Ford’s Rick Deckard, a cop who kills rogue androids and is also likely an android himself, also stands alone as a sadder and more thoughtful hero when compared to Han Solo and Indiana Jones. He’s an interesting guy, especially in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, which gives him a lifetime of grief and regrets to play that come through in the film’s beautiful and poignant final scene. There’s depth there that isn’t necessarily as clear in the others. 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' Is Harrison Ford’s Best Sci-Fi Movie The Indiana Jones series solely belongs to Harrison Ford, unlike Star Wars, where he’s just part of the ensemble. There are some rocky entries that aren’t nearly as good as the original, but Indiana Jones as a character remains beloved and iconic. If you just see his hat, you think of Harrison Ford, and it all started with Raiders of the Lost Ark, one of Steven Spielberg's many movie masterpieces. Related Three to Tango — The Collider Movie Quiz! Can you identify the movie from a trio of its stars? Matthew Perry, Neve Campbell, and Dylan McDermott hope you can. Posts 1 By Macklen Makhloghi Indiana Jones is also a character that Ford himself can’t seem to let go of. The Last Crusade literally ends with him riding off into the sunset, but he still came back for the disappointing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And even though that movie wasn’t great, he came back again for the relatively recent Dial of Destiny, which came right up against killing off Indiana Jones but stopped short. 'Star Wars' Is Harrison Ford’s Best Sci-Fi Movie Based on the Rotten Tomatoes scores, there are two Star Wars sequels that rank higher than any Indiana Jones sequels and the one Blade Runner sequel, so the math says that it’s the best. Also, Star Wars is one of the most indelible cultural institutions in the history of humanity, crossing countries and generations and breaking into mainstream society in a way that Blade Runner and Raiders of the Lost Ark have not. Indiana Jones is Harrison Ford’s guy, but Star Wars makes him part of something bigger. There’s also something to be said about the fact that nobody else played Rick Deckard in a movie, and River Phoenix only played young Indiana Jones in the prologue of Last Crusade, but everyone got mad about it when someone else played young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Alden Ehrenreich did a fine job, but the movie just didn’t quite work because audiences weren’t ready to buy anyone other than Ford as Han. 9 10 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope Like Follow Followed PG Adventure Action Science Fiction Release Date May 25, 1977 Runtime 121 minutes Director George Lucas Writers George Lucas Producers Gary Kurtz, Rick McCallum Cast See All Prequel Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Sequel Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker Franchise Star Wars Powered by Expand Collapse
