Harrisburg woman gets state prison term for setting New Cumberland fire last December.A Harrisburg woman will spend at least three years in state prison for torching a New Cumberland man’s apartment in a fit of rage last December, an act that left nine people temporarily homeless and sent one man to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
According to police reports, Mesaros was a guest at one of the apartments that night, but was asked to leave after an argument with the tenant. The origin of the fight was not clear. Police also found a container of charcoal lighter fluid in a trash can behind the building, in line with the path that the witness said Mesaros took while leaving the scene. The resulting blaze, dispatched about 7:20 a.m., forced the evacuation of the entire four-unit building, and at least two second-floor occupants had to be rescued from a rear balcony since their access to the main exit onto Bridge Street was blocked by heavy smoke.
