A U.S. District judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has officially announced her retirement after serving the area for 45 years.
Judge Sylvia Rambo will retire from her position in the Harrisburg Division on Aug. 30, according to a news release.In 1962, Rambo received her law degree from the Dickinson School of Law, now known as the Pennsylvania State University - Dickinson Law. She was the only woman in her class, the press release noted.
She went on to hold various titles in Pennsylvania, including the first female chief public defender for Cumberland County from 1973 through 1976. Also in 1976, Rambo became the first female judge to serve on the Court of Common Pleas of Cumberland County.PREVIOUS COVERAGE |Chief United States District Judge Matthew W.
