Dauphin county crews have been working around the clock clearing roadways, and restocking supplies since the snow began falling. Homeowners, business owners, municipalities and private contractors spent the day battling heavy wet snow.
“Sometimes it can get tough when it gets wet like it is,” explained Marty Williams who lives in Susquehanna Township. Plows rolled out Sunday evening in Harrisburg as black top streets vanished under fast moving whiteout conditions. It left slick and dangerous roads behind. “It started out rough because we had to catch up to it. We will not leave until we see the black of the streets,” said Harrisburg’s public works director Dave West.“This was the perfect storm and the perfect temperatures for us to clean up the storm,” explained West.BE THE FIRST TO COMMENTThe York County coroner was dispatched to a water rescue in Springettsbury Township on Sunday evening.What was supposed to be a routine stop during a snowstorm quickly turned into an emergency delivery for one Central Pennsylvania couple.A corridor of I-81 northbound was closed after a tractor-trailer flipped over, blocking both lanes, according to PennDOT.A spokesperson with PennDOT confirmed tAs the snowbands spin out of central Pennsylvania, several power outages are being reported across central PA.Are your lights out?Jeremy Charles, 39, of Holtwood, Pennsylvania, was working with a crew when he was struck around Greenfield Road in East Lampeter Township, the coroner says.
