In a preview clip of her Thursday interview with CNN, Vice President Kamala Harris asserted her 'values' remain unchanged.
Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris speaks during the Democratic National Convention Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, in Chicago. Harris during her time as a U.S. senator earned a reputation for being among the most liberal legislators in Congress.
However, some have pointed out that the now-vice president may be softening this approach, such as when she adopted former President Donald Trump’s “no tax on tips” economic policy. In a preview clip of the interview released by CNN, however, Harris said her values remain unchanged. “My values have not changed,” Harris said, citing the Green New Deal as an example of her commitment to ending climate change. “That value has not changed.”Reacting to the clip was Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., who included a detailed list of Harris's previous liberal stances. The vice president in a preview clip also said she would appoint a Republican to her cabinet if elected president. “I have spent my career inviting diversity of opinion,” she said. “I think it's important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made." Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville on Thursday called on Harris to "answer for" her far-left past, saying the CNN interview is the perfect opportunity to do so. "She’s going to have to answer for it, and I hope she has an encompassing answer,” Carville said. “Because it is an absolute truism of American politics that anybody that ever listens to a single thing that the identity left ever said has lived to regret it. It’s just a fact, and she’s said some things she’s going to have to answer for. “Jackson Walker on X at @_jlwalker_ for the latest trending national news. Have a news tip?
