Harlandale Independent School DistrictThe unidentified man allegedly was hitting an officer with a baton and was shot when he tried to reach for the officer’s gun, Harlandale ISD spokeswoman Mariana Veraza said.
At about 8:15 p.m., a custodian reported to Harlandale ISD officers that someone was trying to get intoSAPD: Off-duty officer fired in self-defense in far West Side shooting that wounded two Two officers responded and learned that there was a warrant for the man’s arrest from Kendall County. The officers attempted to detain the man, but he started running.
A fight ensued between one of the officers and the suspect, during which the suspect took the officer’s baton from his hand and started hitting him in the head. The suspect attempted to reach for the officer’s gun, and the second officer fired at the suspect, hitting him once.
