Actress Hannah Waddingham attended Wimbledon with her new boyfriend, spinal surgeon Nick Beresford-Cleary, while Linda Nosková won her first Grand Slam title in an emotional final against Karolína Muchová.
Hannah Waddingham, the Ted Lasso star, made a public appearance with her new boyfriend, Nick Beresford-Cleary, at the Wimbledon championships on Saturday. The couple, who have been dating since at least March when they were first spotted together at the Cheltenham Festival, were seen laughing and enjoying the match from the Royal Box.
They were joined by Davina McCall and her husband Michael. Waddingham, 51, looked stylish in a crisp white shirt and a matching long skirt with dark sunglasses, while Beresford-Cleary, a consultant spinal surgeon, wore a pastel blue suit and a pale grey tie. This outing follows their first red-carpet appearance together at the Variety Power of Women event last month and the London screening of Waddingham's new series, Ride Or Die.
Despite not officially naming her partner, Waddingham has openly discussed finding happiness again after eight years of focusing on her career and her daughter, Kitty, 11, following her split from Gianluca Cugnetto. She emphasized that her personal strength and happiness are the foundation of her new relationship. The main event of the day was the women's singles final, an all-Czech affair between 10th seed Karolína Muchová and 9th seed Linda Nosková.
The 21-year-old Nosková, making her Grand Slam final debut, dominated early, taking a 6-2, 5-2 lead and coming within two points of victory five times in the second set. However, Muchová mounted a remarkable comeback to force a deciding third set. Undeterred, Nosková found her composure again and powered through the final set to claim her first Wimbledon title and first Grand Slam championship.
She was overcome with emotion, crying on Centre Court as she received the Venus Rosewater Dish from the Princess of Wales. Nick Beresford-Cleary's background is in medicine, with an initial degree in mechanical engineering from University College London before earning his medical degree from Edinburgh University.
He completed his Trauma and Orthopaedic training in Oxford and has undertaken fellowships in paediatric and complex adult spine surgery in Oxford and Vancouver, as well as an academic attachment at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He currently works as a Consultant Spine Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and King Edward VII Hospital.
