Osama bin Laden's son is dead.
Vandana RavikumarOsama bin Laden's son, Hamza, heir apparent to leadership of the militant group al-Qaida, is dead, according to multiple U.S. officials.
"He has released audio and video messages on the Internet, calling on his followers to launch attacks against the United States and its Western allies, and he has threatened attacks against the United States in revenge for the May 2011 killing of his father by U.S. military forces," the State Department said at the end of February.
Hamza bin Laden's last known public statement was released by al-Qaida's media arm in 2018, NBC reported. In that message, he threatened Saudi Arabia and called on the people of the Arabian Peninsula to revolt. Osama bin Laden was believed to have fathered at least 20 children with half a dozen wives and was himself the 17th of 52 children. The letters uncovered in the raid after his death suggest that Hamza was one of his favorites.
