Hamilton has labelled retiring star Vettel as 'one of the greatest people we've seen' in F1. 'I would say he's one of the few people that made it not feel lonely.'
On Thursday ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Vettel announced via his new Instagram account that he would be retiring from F1 at the end of the 2022 season.
When asked about how he will remember Vettel as a driver, Hamilton said he was"one of the few people that made it not feel lonely" in F1. "And I would just say naturally, my first feeling is it's sad to see that he's stopping. And then I have not had a lot of time to think about all the journey that we've gone through together.
"He stood by me through a lot of things. I always remember 2007, the press conference in Magny-Cours, and him being very, very outspoken in the driver's briefing.
