Hamilton County is officially reminding everyone to continue taking precautions against mosquitoes this summer.
DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio -
For the third time this summer in the Greater Cincinnati area, mosquitoes with West Nile virus were found. This time, the mosquitoes were discovered on Foley Road in Delhi Township.“We can all take action to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and take precautions to avoid mosquito bites,” Hamilton County Health Commissioner Greg Kesterman said. “West Nile was first identified in Ohio in 2001, so it’s not new to our area, but we like to take the opportunity to remind everyone to take precautions.
Apply mosquito larvicide, sometimes referred to as "dunks," to areas of standing water that cannot be drained. Dunks are safe and won't harm pets.Make sure screens in windows and doors are tight-fitting and free from defect.Use an EPA-registered insect repellent such as those containing DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon, or eucalyptus.
