Ways to save money involve dining at Chinese restaurants to stretch into more meals at home
For starters, I decided to dismiss the gardener and mow my own lawn.So I checked out the local home improvement stores and discovered that the price of a new mower, along with the gas to power it, was going to cost what I would have paid the gardener for a period of roughly three years past my life expectancy.But that price came to the equivalent of 10 years of lawn care beyond my projected demise.
So I called the gardener to rehire him, but he had already accepted another job for more money, and he had no openings.To make up for the added expense, I terminated the exterminator. That saved us from paying someone to come out each month to spray for flies, ants, spiders, mosquitoes and crickets. I also turned my attention to the high cost of food and discovered that one way to save a bundle was to actually dine at a Chinese restaurant.
That may sound implausible, but the portions are huge, the restaurant we like is only a few miles from home, and we’re only able to consume half our order which means we have enough for two extra meals at home. In addition, we always ask for more rice, which they’re happy to provide at no additional charge, and which we turn into fried rice for yet another meal by simply adding a little soy sauce, and perhaps a few peas and carrots.In other words, that dinner my wife and I enjoy at the Chinese restaurant swells into six meals.
