After the smoke cleared, was there a trick or a treat for first responders?

There was a lot of smoke, a little fire and even some suspected fireworks over the course of a couple days in the village.Responding to a home fire alarm for second-floor smoke at 3:09 a.m. Oct. 14, police met with the resident who explained she was trying out the smoke machine they planned to use for Halloween and it got too smoky, setting off the alarm. Firefighters ventilated the house around 3:30 a.m.

Police arrived to find orange cones around the Jeep and that the man worked for Dominion gas company, checking on possible gas leaks in certain areas.A resident reported they had just installed a device that opened their front gate whenever a police car pulled up and activated its siren. When the work was done around 12:30 p.m. Oct. 9, they needed a patrol officer to come over and test it to make sure it worked -- which it did.
