Fresh off the heels of an expanded Oktoberfest celebration last month, city officials and community leaders said they are ready to bring more festivities back to Front Street with a Halloween -themed party.
Ben Bleiman, owner of Harrington’s Bar and Grill, told The Examiner that Oktoberfest was more than just proof that an event of that nature could bring thousands of people to downtown San Francisco. All three participating businesses said that they each had their busiest day of sales since before the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to the Sept. 20 event.

Over the summer, the Downtown SF Partnership collaborated with architecture, design and planning firm Gensler to create a design plan for Front Street’s entertainment zone. New amenities, such as light installations, foliage and a live-performance stage, would support regular events and activities. City officials said Tuesday that Oktoberfest’s success has helped planners come up with a more concrete plan to eventually turn Front Street into “a dynamic and adaptable space for the modern user.
