On the set of the new Hallmark+ reality show that seeks to find the next Hallmark holiday movie hunk.It’s a sunny May morning at a picturesque ranch in Utah, about 30 minutes from Salt Lake City. The sky is blue and nearly cloudless, the temperature is 65 and rising — and one man’s Christmas spirit is about to be broken.
After competing in challenges testing their acting skills and festive spirit, each participant receives feedback from Bennett and his fellow judges,). “It feels like you kind of played it safe, and that’s not the first time we’ve given you that note,” Bennett tells one of the men in the bottom two. The other learns that the judges felt his performance was “missing something.”“Hallmark is all about family. You’re all part of that family now,” says Bennett.
It should be noted that Bloomquist miraculously still loves the holiday season despite the culinary trauma he experienced one year after his uncle brought an unusual meat dish to family dinner. “I piled it on my plate. I start eating it, and I thought, 'This doesn’t taste like roast beef.' I’m like, ‘Uncle Ace, what is this?’ He’s like, ‘That’s beaver!’” Bloomquist recalls, laughing. “That was the first time and last time I’ve ever had beaver. I don’t recommend it.
